Ólafur Ólafsson
Non-executive chairman

Joined the board in March 2000 and became Chairman in October 2003. He is the Executive Chairman of Samskip hf, an international transport and logistics business. Ólafur is a member of the board of HB Grandi and Kjalar, his own investment company. Previously he has served on the boards of Oliufelagid and the Icelandic Red Cross. He has a Cand. oceon. degree from the University of Iceland.

Joined the Board in September 2006. He has extensive experience of the retail trade and of managerial work within it. He was CEO of the food producer Uniq plc from 2002 to 2005, before which he worked for Mars Inc. for 23 years. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Bezier Ltd and Non Executive director of Halfords plc. Bill Ronald graduated from the University of Glasgow with a degree in Statistics in 1978. He is married and has two children.

Joined the Board in September 2006. A chartered public accountant since 1984, he has run his own business consultancy since 2003. He was a partner and chairman of a local audit firm 1985-1999 and partner and chairman of the board of Deloitte in Iceland 1999-2001. He has been chairman of the Icelandic institute of CPA and president of the Nordic federation of public accountants. CEO of the Agricultural Bank of Iceland 2001-2003 when it merged with Kaupthing bank. He has served on the boards of several companies. Arni graduated from the Faculty of Business studies of the University of Iceland in 1979 and has been a part-time university teacher 1985 to 2001 and again from 2003.

Kristinn Albertsson
Non-executive director

Joined the board in September 2007. He holds a Cand. oceon degree in finance and management from the University of Iceland. Kristinn joined Alfesca as Chief Accountant in 1995, he became Operations Director in 1998 and was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Group from 2000 until 2007. Since January 2007 Kristinn has been CFO of Samskip.

Guðmundur Ásgeirsson
Alternate non-executive director

Joined the board in 1997. He is the founder and chairman of Nesskip hf, a shipping company in Iceland. He was a member of the board of directors of the Icelandic Seamen’s Pension Fund for 23 years, serving as Chairman for two terms, and member of the board of directors of the Icelandic Shipowners’ Association from its foundation in 1983 until 2003.
